video: is this too much blowback?

Thats a concerning amount of blow-by in my opinion. Unlike the 7.3, it's not normal to have much visible blow-by like that. My 6.0, as well a few others i was looking at (trying to get a 4x4) don't any visible white "smoke" with the oil fill cap off. I have seen a bit of vapor if i check blow-by while the truck is warming up, but it's just condensation burning off, as it goes away when it's fully warmed up.
More important than what you can see is if there is any pressure behind it. If you set the cap on the filler neck without threading it on, does it blow off or "dance around"? It should only move from the vibration of the engine.

Take the oil filler cap off and set it on upside down.
It should not blow off at idle.

Yes that it is. I can post the PDF with the real info in it with the numbers.
It's just hard to come up with the test tube with the orifice in it. Not cheap.

I agree with most here, that is an excessive amount of blow by, like others have said, set the oil cap on top of the filler tube upside down with the engine warm and idling and if it moves from anything other than engine vibration it's building pressure in the crankcase which indicates an excessive amount of blow by. jmho

Is the engine hot or cold? Mileage on current pistons/rings?
If it's cold that's not bad, even more so if it's cold ambient temperature.
If it's a hot day and a hot motor with real blow-by i still wouldn't exactly worry... i've seen way worse than that and still run for 100k miles, i'd be more concerned if you're losing oil

Hot engine I would expect some vapors etc.

Funny enough, i see just a little bit of white vapor if i take the oil cap off with my truck warming up. Once warm, i don't see a trace of anything coming out. I think it's just condensation evaporating, but i could be wrong.

Trace amounts are to be expected...a little more, a little less depending on atmospheric conditions....the engine in this video in my opinion is puffing a LOT out of the oil fill tube. Unless his oil is contaminated with excessive amount of moisture ( which is a different problem, but a problem no less) the engine is showing signs of excessive ring wear....jmho
