My 1998 F150 is nervous. It panics whenever I get in it!

1998 F150 XLT ext cab, flareside, 4.6L automatic.

Truck has regular keys and a fob that has lock/unlock/and red panic button.

Fob works fine, all buttons do as intended. The problem starts when I don't use the fob. When I use my key to unlock the door (driver or passenger), the door unlocks fine. Then, when I open the door, the panic alarm goes off. If I don't have the fob, I have to turn the key to on to get it to stop honking.

Any ideas on how to get it to stop this bad behavior? Some sort of reset thing?

Thanks

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm.

I see no signs of any aftermarket electronics. It does the same stuff when the red button is pushed on the fob.

Have you checked under the dash to see if there is any other spliced wiring?

the panic button on all alarms just set the alarm off. Factory alarm will disarm with the key most aftermarket alarms do not disarm with the key. Post a picture of your key fob.

Roll your window down lock the truck with the button on the door, do not use the fob, weight 5 minutes and use the key to open it and see if the alarm goes off.

Oh well, it started doing it again. Unlock door with key, OK. Lift up on handle, horn goes off. Any other ideas?
