69 F100 with 390/C6 - Performance upgrades

Guys, my truck runs well, but I've now hit that point where I want to make it go a tad quicker! It's a stock 390/C6 combo, with the stock inlet, 2bbl carb and single pipe exhaust.

I know from reading on here that headers, dual pipes, intake and 4bbl carb are the way to go, but can anyone recommend which actual products to buy. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on which set of headers fit the easiest. Thanks.

Easiest headers are Sanderson FF427 three-quarter length headers.

Intake? Edelbrock RPM #7105

Carb? A Holley 650 cfm with vacuum secondaries or an Edelbrock 1405 or 1406 (manual vs electric choke, respectively).

Actually one more question....Edelbrock vs Holley....forget the performance/tuning aspect, I've worked with both before and had varying degrees of luck with both....but which one will be easiest for rigging up....throttle and kickdown linkage etc? I guess conversion kits might be available?

For a daily/frequent driver I would lean towards Edelbrock.

Holleys to me can be fussy.

Do your homework and opt for the Ford kickdown bracket. If still unsure, call Edelbrock's tech line for assistance. I would avoid emailing them since emails are easyto ignore. A comtinuously ringing telephone is treated differently.

When going from 2V to 4V carb you will prolly see the kick down tube will be a bit short then. Holley makes an extension for the tube so you can hook it up to the 4V carb and keep it's original travel swing. Holley part number 20-41.

Thank you. Knowing this kind of info in advance makes the job so much more straightforward.

Yep, done that already.....it's one of the first things I always do if a car's still running with the points setup.

I'm rebuilding my bump right now. What I did was convert from a 360 to 390. New dizzy with pertronix ignitor 1 and pertronix coil. Edelbrock performer intake. Holly 4250 electronic choke carb, got the cylinder heads shaved and cleaned and redone by the machine shop (new valve seats, etc.). New starter. New battery. New alternator. Pretty much everything else will be new for sanity sake.

I'm planning to put a mini starter and Sanderson 427 ceramic headers. The previous owner switched to dual exhaust at some point so I'm keeping the exhaust manifolds until I figure out my exact muffler and header setup.
