How To: Remove Neutral Safety Switch without breaking it
Some have wondered how to remove a broken Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) selector lever while the steering column is installed in the truck in order to install a new one. Or how to remove the NSS selector lever without breaking it. I have come up with a good working solution. I was looking at it and it suddenly dawned on me that I had the perfect tool for the job. It's the OTC Radiator Hose Pick tool. Basically I ran it down next to one or the other of the two legs, using one of the two holes in it, get the point into the lowest part on the selector lever as possible and press downward just a little more and that leg will come free. Once one leg is free the other leg comes free with just a little maneuvering. Here's some pics of the tool and the technique. This will work with the column in or out of the truck, either way.
I hope this helps others. It worked great for me. Twice. And while I already had the tool it is not so expensive that it would break the bank.
Cheers!

It can get underneath a radiator or heater hose where they connect to a metal tube and work them off without damage or cutting the hose short. I like it because it doesn't seem to stress the metal tube like coming out of the heater core as much as twisting the hose to work it off. And you know how some of those rubber hoses can seem like they are glued on after a while where a clamp attaches.
It's also a decent back scratcher. Or it can get to that nagging bit of ear wax.
4.5 stars on Amazon with 403 reviews - you know it has to be good....Hahahaha

Have never removed enough radiator hoses to have a dedicated tool, a razor or sharp knife always does the trick.

Yes, if there is no plan to save the hose or you have plenty of length like a heater hose - definitely razor or sharp knife - this would be where you'd want to save the hose. I used it on my power steering return lines on my Dodge truck recently to get them off since they were in fine shape and had been replaced not long ago but just stuck from the clamp. Junk like that.
