building 54 f100

Thanks for the compliment.
Still needs tuning and of course the weld hiding bondo.
no idea about the dana, it was from a 61 f100 and was a bolt in with 355 posi. The axle and the cv were about a 1/2 year apart in the install process, I had no plans to put in the cv at the time I installed the dana.
I saw on one of the fix it up and sell that car shows ( gas monkey? ) where they put a cv in a chevy c-10. So I looked on the internet to see the sizes and shure enough it was really close and workable. So I went for it. Only had in and out a few times for mock up until I was happy with it. It was quite affordable.
As for the bolt patterns I may get an adaptor for the rear.

Still plugging along. The firewall mod was not quite wide enough so I have redone it.
Finally happy with the 390 positioning and tacked up the motor mounts. I had to put the rear sump oil pan from a 360 I had laying around to get it to fit in nice. But I will have to cut the angled drain piece out to get the clearance I want. So far the oil pan clears the cv by about 5/8 tp 3/4 of an inch and the fire wall on the drivers side by about an inch. I have mocked up and will tack up the tranny cross mount. That clears the frame mount power brake booster by about 1/4 of an inch.
Started putting the windows back in to the doors. The wing windows have been a pain to get to sit true, passenger side looks really out of alignment. Gonna try again ( attempt #3 )
I have a question about installing the side windows. Has anyone put the glass into the track, then put it into the door before installing the winder. then mounting it onto the rail pins ( names for the parts are as best as I can think) ?
One thing I have noticed using parts from 53 to 56 not all parts are close and do not cross over well.

I have never done my windows that way. do you have a shop manual? Follow the step by step instructions there. I just googled "How to put windows in a 54 Ford truck" and a YouTube video pops up that is pretty helpful.
The window regulator (winder) should be in the door. Then put the glass in the track, then pop the pins into the window tracks. I put some lithium grease on them to make it easier.

Even at a day a month on your truck you are ahead of me, mine has stalled out and it`s time to get back at it. Too many projects plus finding this real nice 53 M100 killed my 53 M100 resto rod/1980 Mercury car front slip, 302/C4.
I love the 390 engines in the F100 trucks, with it your truck really rocks!

in this month I have had two days and will get one more. I want to get it done so its gonna be two or more days a month.
Yesterday I put in the seat as to get the steering column fitted ( bought a good used chrome "I did it" and the gas pedal mocked up. The gas pedal is from an old maverick as I'm going with a throttle cable.
Its not really a big truck. The seat is all the way back and there is not much room.
Last year I bought a painless wiring kit for the truck, so that is going in until I remove the motor next week and send out the motor mounts and tranny cross member for welding. Just ordered a Dakota digital gauge set last Saturday.
Still so much to do.

Today I did not too much on the truck
Last weekend I installed the seat and mocked up the steering column.
Today I bought a banjo steering wheel to complete the mock up.
Reviewing every thing I am going to change the gas pedal to the lokar floor mount pedal with the under the floor throttle cable.
Has anyone used that product?
Thanks for any and all answers.

My build would have been a lot easier sticking with a stock front end instead of a clip from an 80 Mercury car, I`m not a fabricator in any sense of the word. My friend did the clip and I`m having a hard time making it all work.
Since I want a fairly close to stock look I used a steering column from a 61 Ford car and I plan on going with a 51 Ford car steering wheel.
Sorry but I can`t help, I don't have any experience with Lokar products.
