Making power with a 360, what should I be looking for
So, as I've said before I would like to make power with my ford fe. I will eventually be putting some sort of stroker kit in the trucketc.
My questions are.
1.) What should I be looking for when it comes to intake manifolds whether it's used or new? Basically what companies make/did make them?
2.) What would be a good size carb for the thing that will still be streetable?
3.) What good pulleys are out there for them?
4.) Who makes the best motor mounts for them? It's going in my 47 f and I can't really do anything to the truck until I get the motor properly mounted inot the truck.
I'm sure that probably both questions have been asked before, especially the second one so sorry if I am annoying you guys with all my questions.
Thanks.

First off, buy these two books:
The Great FE Intake Comparo
and this one
Since you intend to stroke it later, I'd be looking for parts that I could install now and also use later for the stroker.
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and some headers would be the first thing.
Biggest problem you'll have making power is the low compression of the 360. It was never intended to be a performance engine.

Start with exhaust, straight up timing set, 4bbl intake and it will liven up enough to get you by till you stroke it without tearing into the motor too bad... be prepared to drill out twisted off exhaust bolts the top 8 are the most likely to twist off easiest time to do this is now before you install it... if you can get some higher compression heads and a livelier cam that would be the next step... after that it gets out of hand and pocketbook quickly... as long as you use the stock motor mounts with big thick washers you normally won't rip them in two it's when you get slack that the motor mounts want to tear in my experience plus you can make very simple mounts to go into anything with the fe mounts since they only use one external bolt on each side, I have seen a 1.5" square tubing triangulated mount that allowed it to be able to be moved forwards or back with little change and without fighting the headers....adaptation and improvisation is the key

What is a timing set though?
