Are 6.2L Ford SD's good trucks?

I have a V10 Ford Excursion that I love and have 206k on. I was wondering if the 6.2 was just as reliable and fun to own as my V10 has been. I am thinking of buying me a 6.2 to haul and use for work. Any insight is appreciated.

The 6.2 is more fun. Because it sounds like a nascar between 4-6k rpm.
At least mine does with no cats and one less resonator.

I use mine for work everyday. It is the most reliable truck on the road today. I really like mine. If you can wait and buy new, the 2017's are getting a factory power increase, new specific tranny for the 6.2 and obviously the new body.

I have heard nothing but good things about them. If I was looking for a new truck right now, a 6.2 would definitely be at the top of the list.

having owned a v10 X, a 6.2 superduty is going to feel like a rocketship lol. Way more power, better drivetrain and much nicer interior but it's still no excursion. They are just different

No serious problems with mine. My neighbor's 2011 F250 work truck has 170k of hard use on it and the only issues have been the fuel tank vent problem that was fixed by rerouting the vent into the engine compartment and last week his front caliper was sticking. His employer also has another truck identical to his with about the same miles and no problems with that one either.

Unless your pulling insane amount of weight everyday the 6.2 sd is one of the best trucks out there. Mine has been trouble free so far. When I upgrade I'll probably buy another 6.2 but that won't be for a long time since mine is doing great.

I own two of them and my employees drive them a lot, as well as myself.
They are very reliable and haul and tow well.

I'm happy with my 6.2L. Before I bought mine I quized my service writer friend about them. He said it's very rare that someone comes in with an issue on these engines.

Is there no simpler fix to the fuel tank vent problem than running it into the engine compartment? Why doesn't Ford fix this on warrantee?

Only thing Ford will do under warranty is clean the vent and put it back in the factory location. My neighbor put up with this until the warranty was out then took it to an independent shop and he rerouted the vent. Maybe they think venting a gas tank into the engine compartment is a bad idea. I thought it was at first but my neighbor's truck hasn't blown up yet . My truck did act up shortly after I fluid filmed the underside the first time but I found that the end of the vent was covered with the oily grime that fluid film causes. I cleaned the end up and moved it higher up on the frame rail and haven't had any problems since.

In two years and 45,000 miles later I haven't had any major issues. I use mine as my daily driver and for work. Tows better than my 7.3 did and I plan on keeping mine for a few more years.

The only issue I have is sometimes I get a bit of almost lifter noise but, its been there since I bought it. If it was going to fail, it would have by now!

I ended up buying me a 2016 F250 SD 4x2 XLT and I couldn't ask for more in a truck. I am averaging 15-17 on the highway and 12-13 in the city. Thanks for all of the input it really persuaded me into buying a 6.2L v8. I have not towed anything yet, but look forward to many years of faithful service. I am going to take her out on a long 3,000k mile round trip to break her in soon, should be an adventure and all the comfort I could ask for.

You'll have to post some pictures of the new truck.
