Thumbs up New Belt Tensioner Tool

I am posting this write up on the 6.0 & 7.3 forums. It works great for me and maybe someone else will find it helpful.

Thanks
Ed

I had no idea people used a tool for these tensioners. I just pull on the belt and lock the tensioner. Maybe I have been doing it wrong.

I'm 66 and have a few broken bones scattered around. Arizonia is 67. The belt pulls on us, we don't pull on the belt ;-)

You know some Plast-A-Dip on the handle at the grip point would also
be a nice add-on.

That's exactly the way I've been doing it since I started working on these engines. I'm 47, 5'-11'' and 173 lbs.

I am 55, 5'-6" 173 lbs, and last year I had to change the alternator far from home. I could pull the belt with two hands but can't lock the tensioner, need a third hand for that. Also didn't have enough tools with me, luckily got a distance cousin (much younger) came over help pull the belt so I can lock the tensioner. Talk about getting old is not fun, especially for guy like me don't exercise much

Hey Tideman, good to hear from you again. My 6.0 is running like the day I drove it off the lot, thanks for asking. How is your 6.0 doing?
Aren't you from around Dothan? I grew up around Panama City not that far from you.

Ed,
Feel like making some 6.0 belt helpers? No welder here and you already have the positioning of the 1/2" head. Send me a PM if interested, I'll make it worth your while.

Yeah guys there was a time when I could do it that way, my tool box was smaller then.
Thanks for making me feel even older. I love this place.
God Bless you all and have a great day.

Arizona, P.C. still great, have a Beach House close to there.

I'm with Watsonr, if you decide to build a few count me in!

Wouldn't let me Rep. But a really good idea.

Hi Randy and Tideman, thanks for asking but to tell you the truth my business keeps me too busy and it took me two weeks just to finish this one. Believe me that thought crossed my mind when I was working on this one. The thing for everyone to remember is the position of the socket cap on the flat steel is critical, a few degrees off and its a no go. It's not that hard you can do it. There is a welder near you.
