I would hit the local parts store for these. The GM ones are longer than the Ford ones. Make sure you have lubed the window regulator, the track and all else is good, because these suckers will hold a door panel.
Also you can notch the door panel so it fits tighter to the door. The bracket that holds the door pull has 2 bolts heads that hold if off a bit. No worries the arm rest and finger cup cover the notches.
Also get some metal finger cups LMC and make sure the flat back tab is not broken. I sheet metal reinforced mine.
Please don't think I'm crazy... my truck had twisted metal as a retainer. Nothing plastic like the pictures you've all shown. It was like a 3" piece of stiff wire (I'd say factory bent) that held the panel to the door.
No need to over think it now that I see clips you've posted. Thanks for the help!!
Yes then you have the factory metal spring clips with a piece of foam...those are tough and great to reuse if you can. But once they are sprung/bent, they do not like to be reused.
Remember that the new push in X mas trees will hold that panel tight. And if you have to pop it back off, you are in for a chore.
I usually use a hack saw blade with a tape made handle and go in between the door and the panel and cut the tree in two. That way you will not break the back side of the panel clip area.
