Sterling 10.25 cross pin removal
I've got a 10 25 semi-float in my 86 F250. I am trying to pull the axle-shafts so I can replace bearings and seals.
I've got the locater pin out, but the cross pin will not come out. I got it 1/4 of the way out maybe, but it won't budge any further and won't go back in.
Any advice on what to do now?

I have tried having my wife move around the axles shafts while I pried on it. I tried beating it with a hammer. At the moment, I've got paracord run through the hole that the pin goes through and have constant tension pulled on it.

Number dummy, I see how the pin is supposed to come out but it's not budging. But I appreciate the chart.

I would say the spider gears the pin goes thru more so the one the pin is part way out of has moved. It has the pin in a bind so it cant move.
Try turning the spider to rotate it back into place to put the pin back in place..
That is how you remove and install the spiders you rotate them in out

I'm not familiar with this axle, but on other similar models the pin only comes out in one direction. There's a small shoulder on one end of the pin, but it's not very obvious at first.
Are the rear wheels already off the ground, with the parking brake off? If not, I'm wondering if there is still a shear load on the pin causing binding.

I managed to gethe the pin back in place. It will come out the same distance every time I try removing it, but will go no further no matter how much I hit it with a hammer.
I've called in my father-in-law, who has been a mechanic his whole life. If he can't help me get it, I might take it to the shop that does all the work on my super-duty and just pay out the nose to have them replace the bearings and seals.
