any ideas appreciated thanks

I have a 1978 f250 with a v8 400 in it and last spring i started a rebuild to fix it up i took the cab and bed off and now want to start the engine on the frame stand alone starting when i got it set up i tried to start it and it will turnover but has no spark at the spark plug or Distributor has new ignition coil, wiring, to the plugs and coil new spark plugs and new pick up coil and still no spark any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated

i had watched a vid on you-tube where a guy took a wire from the distributor pickup coil wire at the bottom of the distributor and went to the - on the ignition coil then took a wire from the + on the ignition coil to the battery and taped the starter wire on it and it started now that was a 351 not a 400 but it should work heres the vid can you tell if thats the right way and if not how should i do it thanks

You would have to have the ignition box wired in to make it spark. It doesn't work like a points style ignition where you can just run a wire to it.

I posted a link in your other post where you asked the same question that will show you the wires you need to connect.
