Headed to the pick and pull

My truck is a 77 F100 2wd 300 6 cyl. Going after a 78 Bronco for some interior cab bits. Most are screwdriver stuff. Inst cluster molding, inst cluster and door panels. Won't know what is salvageable till I get there. Also need some door hinges and maybe the dash pad if if is OK, confidence not high on that piece. Question is; Is it all SAE or do I need to pack some metric tools? Growing up in that era I found that vehicles in that time frame may have had a mixture of SAE and metric fasteners. I usually carry a set of pliers and an adjustable just in case but will pack some metric if it's necessary.

Yes bring a metric screwdriver. lol As far as I have seen all is SAE, unless some part has been replaced. I have seen rear brake wheel cylinders bleed plugs become #10 or 11MM after replacement.

Dash pad is 1/4-11/32-3/8???....one of them if I remember right. And a 1/4 drive ratchet and short extension, stubby screwdriver for the glove box screws. Socket is nice to get the OEM 2 shaft stereo nuts off. You will want to pull it and the heater control mount panel 4 screws 1/4"? to be able to easily get in there.

Dash pad nuts, 2 far left 2 far right, side by side, one on the dash pad center tip, 4 or 5 more evenly spaced in there.

Door panels, be VERY careful because the back side plastic mount tabs will break. A door panel tool is nice or a #4 flat with a v cut in the tip and a 45* bend.

Or start on the lower corner and pull very carefully. If they are mounted with the plastic trees, you can use a hack saw blade with a tape handle to cut them off (going in between the back side of the panel and the door. Use replacement trees from the parts store that are GM (they will be longer).

Dome light lens, under dash courtesy lights, locking glove box lock?

IIRC, 1980 and newer is a mix of metric and SAE. I bring both and a radio flyer cuz you'll never know what you'll find... like that time I stumbled upon a 76 with an FE which gave up its NP435 and married NP205.

If you're getting parts off of a '78 Bronco, check out the rear end for a sway bar assembly. It would be an easy bolt-on for a '77 F100.

This is my '69 F100 Ranger with a '79 Bronco rear sway bar. Theoretically, the sway bar shouldn't fit my truck because the rear frame rails on a Bumpside are narrower than a Dentside F100-F250/ '78/'79 Bronco. But, there it is.

Also, since it's a Bronco, there's a very good chance it would have a 31-spline 4-pinion Traction-Lok 3rd member in the rear end housing --most likely with 3.50 gears. This would be another good item to grab.

I have a Ford Daytona N-case (Nodular iron) 9-inch 3rd member with a 31-spline Traction-Lok differential and 3.50 gears I pulled from a '75 F150 4x4.

It was there. Just didn't have the time or tools to get. While I was there a gentleman showed up to grab the 31-spline Traction-Lok differential and 3.50 gears. I have the Dana rear so I don't know if the sway bar will fit.

It was picked over pretty good. Did manage to get some gauges, an instrument bezel in fair condition, door hinge and two window regulators. Was not expecting the regulators to be riveted in rather than bolted like mine.

Dash pad and door panels were not in the cards but didn't expect much.

Thanks for the info.

Ah, when you said you had a '77 F100, I had visions of it having a 9-inch rear end and not a Dana. The sway bar for a 9-inch is different from one for a Dana rear end. --but, having the rear sway bar assembly for a 9-inch would be a good item to sell to someone wanting one or, it could be used as barter material for something someone else might have that you might need.
