I have a 1986 F - 150 with the 302 .about a year ago it was running fine . My every day driver ,filled up with gas and leaving the gas station it backfired very loudly and died.Had to get it towed home .after replacing the whole ignition system .Small part first plugs , wires,coil still no fire.So I finally replaced the Distributor . After the new distributor the truck started up and seem to run fine .Now when you give it half throttle or more it spits and pops .Also when it was down it got a new fuel pump and filter.truck is at a friends shop he decided it was still the distributor and replaced it and it's still spitting and popping . Please help ,I don't want to keep replacing unnecessary parts

Carbureted or fuel injection?

 

It should be injected.

When the new dizzy was put in and timed, did he pull the spout connector to set base timing?
Does it pop through the intake or exhaust?

 

It's EFI and it pops through the exhaust

 

Did the new distributor(s) come with (a) new ignition module(s)?

 

Yes the new distributor come with a new module
