I have one F750 insert for that badge, but will need restoration. That's a good looking truck. I also have a repair section for that front fender and roof skin if you need it.
I will take you up on both. Not sure next time I will be in your neck of the woods so let me know how to get them from you. Thanks
The biggest bummer about this truck is the engine is gone as the owner sold it a while back, i am trying to track it down to see if it was original if so i will see if i can buy it back.
Before you do that, try to find parts for a 302 Y block.
VIN Rating Plate: Would like to figure out what the original color 'S' special was to possibly get it back to it, was it this brown?
I have seen a handful of 60 trucks this color but dont see it as a color option for this year. Thoughts?
S = Special, FoMoCo designation for a truck painted a non standard color.
DSO 721644:
72 = San Jose (Nor Cal) Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
1644 = Domestic Special Order number, truck special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
When the COLOR code is S (1957/60) or there is no COLOR code (1961 thru today), the truck was painted a non standard color per the original purchasers order.
To get the paint formula, the dealer contacts FoMoCo with the DSO number. FoMoCo looks up the order, passes the formula back to the dealer.
1957/60: Rating Plate located on the inside of the glove box door or on the left cab (A) pillar (aka windshield post), depending on model.
Side note - I bought what I thought would be a parts truck but ends up a hidden gem. Anyhow the point is it doesn't have any designation on the color code on the VIN tag. I will post a photo on a thread in the 57-60 forum for comment.
Well as we can't find out from Ford the original color we will try to peel back the paint to see what we find. I am guessing brown. See photo.

I can bring the parts to my dads house in the LA area in Feb. I can text you pics if that works. I also have a 7 gauge cluster with tach and air pressure.

That would be great. Let me know when you will be there. I have a conference in LA in Feb maybe it will coincide. If not i will have my Brother in Law hook up with you while you are there. Let me know what you want for the parts. Thanks, Mathais

Cool man. Send me a PM with phone number and I will text you a detailed reply with photos of what I have.
There's a local guy who has a 1955 F100 4WD conversion. It has full front fender skirts and they are welded on.
He said it was originally a US Forestry truck.
Do you know if this was a Ford option, an MH option or just something that possibly the City had done after purchase? The VIN doesn't show a DSO on it so that is curious as from what I have read of your VIN decoding since it is a 4x4 conversion you would think it would be special order? Maybe the City sent it out and had it outfitted on their own. All the MH tags are there and match the VIN.
Most I've seen with the fender treatment are Colemans. An F-100 Coleman would be rare to an extreme. Stu
I'm not sure who converted it, but I see the guy all the time, as he works for a local auction house that sells antique firearms.
'Course 'antique' is a misnomer, as many of the guns that 'ol Gangel sells...are much newer than this truck.
milk225: It's not a FoMoCo option, as 1959 was the first year that factory installed 4WD was available in F100/250.
All previous F100/250's were conversions as were all F350's thru 1978. Even after FoMoCo offered 4WD, there were also conversions, usually sent out by dealers to M-H and etc.
But, if the original purchasers so requested it, FoMoCo would send trucks out after they left the assembly line to be converted to 4WD, usually to M-H.
The DSO code on the Rating/Warranty Plate would have 4 digits (thru 1962 .. 6 digits 1963 and later), denoting a Domestic Special Order.
