1960 F100 Restoration Progress and Metalwork

Hello all! We're a father-daughter team working to restore our lovely 1960 F100 (big back window and with all the works) in time for my 16th birthday, which is a year from Sunday! This is our first progress post on here but we've been observers for a while.
Over the past several months, dad has made lots of headway, disassembling and rebuilding the wasted parts on the cab and cleaning up and assembling the new frame. We've got a hodgepodge of his own personal metal work and factory made parts like the step plate, which has lead to more than a few hours in the garage after work. We'd appreciate it if you took a few minutes to look at his work and tell us what you think!

Welcome to the Orphanage, looks like a great start on project!
It is nice to see a Father/Daughter project! I hope you are getting your hands dirty too, it will mean so much more to you to have spent time with your father, and a little skin in the process, especially down the road! What color/s have you decided on? give us some of the details. You started on right with pictures, we like that.
Good luck in your quest!

Looks like a great start. Father / Daughter Projects create great memories for both of you. Keep us posted and like Wally said, make sure you help as much as possible. You will be glad you did.

Count your blessings, you are very lucky to have what appears to be a talented father who is willing to work with you, enjoy every minute. I spent countless hours working with my two teenage sons but only one continued working on cars, he is 36 now and we still work together at times. He has actually turned out to be a better mechanic then me. He now owns my 66 F250 and will get the rest of them soon which gives me peace knowing they will go to a good home.

New cab mounts, front and rear floor pans, inner and outer rear cab corners, step plates, kick plates rear door post lower sections and probably more after i cut into it more. Original red and white two tone, truck still has original paint now! possibly a satin finish on new paint?? have not decided on that yet.

Outstanding!! Such a great dad to spend this time with your daughter. And such a great daughter to spend this time with your dad!

Nice truck. I can't wait to see it topped with a bow on your 16th birthday.

Father/Daughter

My daughter and I are starting today on the 59 F100 I picked up last fall.
She told my wife if I don't start on it she was going to without my help.
Also she is 15yrs old and will be 16 in Nov. Please keep posting pictures.
I picked up a "rebuilt" 351C 4v for it. We are pulling the 351W out of it today. Going to get up to 48* today. Got a lot of work to do while in the middle of moving. I will get some pictures today.

That is cool! I thought I was the only crazy one to try to try this! I will finish some more welding and grinding on cab corner today. That will almost finish drivers side metal work. The passenger side is worse but should go way faster. The temperature should be good motivation for you guys to get some progress made. How is the body on your 59? We will post a bunch more pics tonight.

Glad to hear original colors. Can't imagine ever changing an original red on anything. Looking forward to seeing progress. A few years ago I was ready to divest myself of all car projects. So much money, time, upkeep, and storage space. Then my 32 year old daughter talked me in to saving my 1958. She's a little late coming around, but I guess it's going to be a father/daughter project if I ever get her back to Texas!

Update! drivers side cab metal work mostly done. door shuts perfectly! I had to take truck back outside to get back to money making project to keep our build going! Front springs and finished front axle installed on new frame and actually rolled out of house garage this weekend. I will put donor cab on new frame to position engine and transmission after motor mounts and crossmember come in. Donor truck was the best thing that I have done on this build!! Great to mock up for homemade cab mounts and inner cab corners. More pics as soon as my daughter gets time to post them.
