Are 2wd dually spindles the same length as a SRW?

I'm doing a dually conversions on my 2wd SRW. I want to just buy the whole dually brake/hub assembly and slip it onto the stock spindle. Can tell in pictures if the spindles are the same length or the dually one is longer. Anyone know??

Will you have to upgrade the rearend to handle extra tire load?

They are not the same. A dually has a spindle length of around 5 5/8" to 5 11/16". The other size is about 4 3/4", though this one I have only found on a couple cab and chasiss trucks. (BTW, those 2 different sizes use different wheel seals. The short dually spindle uses the same seal as the SRW) The SRW spindles are 3 9/16" to 3 5/8". All of them do use the same bearings, races, and spindle nut though, unless you had something special ordered from the factory.

I have found this to apply to all 99 to 07 Super Duty f250 and F350 trucks. There are a few oddballs out there though.

Thanks for the info. I bought the ambulance. I didn't know what the gear ratio was till I opened it up.. I have a fleet of the same units at work and they were all 3:73. Mines 4:10...... Witch I do not want.. So now I'm contemplating buying dually adapters... Any input on thesis adapters??

I'm not a fan of dually adapters. They put a lot of the load on the smaller bearing, which may be OK if you're not heavy. So, if you're not real heavy, you may be fine. People do use them though and don't have any problems.
