Ex stopped running and died on the side of the road

I have a 2003 Ex 6.0 psd, 155k miles, and was on my way to work to a site 40 miles from nowhere. I was about 10 miles from my destination cruising around 65 when the Ex started losing power. I would say within a couple of miles power was gone and i had no choice but to pull over. I popped the hood, got out had a look around and saw no leaks or anything out of the ordinary. Let it sit for a few minutes and tried to restart it to no avail. There was no check eng light or any signs something was wrong.
I just so happened to have my OBD scanner with me and plugged it in and read for any extra codes. Three popped up on the screen: P0232, P0263, and P0278.
P0232 Fuel Pump Secondary (Feedback) Circuit High Voltage,
P0263 is described as a cylinder number 1 contribution/balance. In essence, this code is stating that the number one cylinder in the firing order is experiencing a fuel-related problem.
P0278 same as above for cyl 6.

Right away i thought the fuel/lift pump took a dump on me and was causing the fuel issues in the two cylinders.
I got on the cell and called the Stealership and they told me a new fuel pump was $580 and i also had to buy a new pigtail for it at another $40. So, i called a regular parts house and they wanted $280. Called a garage in a nearby town and they wanted $580 for the part and $200 to install it. I got online and googled the pump and Amazon had it for $58 with a lifetime warranty. I ordered it and had it shipped next day for $4.00 with prime.
It ended up being a long day to get the Ex towed home because i was 150 miles from my house, but i was able to get a buddy to take a road trip and tow the Ex back to my house.

Got the fuel pump today. The pump is located under the driver seat, bolted to the frame rail. The pump housing also has a fuel filter in it. There are four fuel lines and two electrical plugs that have to be unconnected, the three bolts holding the unit to the frame. It took me approx. 20 minutes to complete the process (never done this before). When i had everything re-installed, i cycled the ignition a few times, then she started right up. I was soooooo stoked. Drove it around the block a few times and everything seems to be back to normal. I cleared the codes too.
Tomorrow i plan to go on a short road trip to make sure everything is up to snuff.

I never was quite that extreme but when going back and forth between Camp Lejeune and home I always had a pretty good assortment of spare parts since I never knew when and where something would let loose and whether there would be a parts store anywhere around that was open and would have the stuff I needed in stock. Easier to carry it with you and do it on the side of the road.

Maybe, but checking the oil once in awhile is probably something that is required across both platforms
