Will new truck be too tall for old 5er?

Since your going 2016, i think you'll be fine.

We were a smidge nose high with our 2005 FX4 , but we had to lift our Alfa for the 2017.
Much taller truck!

Wont know until you try. The Axle flip on my Trailer was about $650.

Those pictures show a significant difference. Was that about a 6" increase in height?

Yeah, 6-8 inches. More then I thought. However I really like the idea of increased ground clearance. We still haven't moved since doing the work - I'll know more about it the next couple of weeks.
