Hello does anyone know of dual stabilizer for an 86 f350?
I would prefer one that didn't require drilling frame. The only ones I can find require 3" min lift.
If not can anyone recommend the best single? Searched and a few people mentioned top gun but haven't been able to open site in a couple days now.
Steering dampers are for absorbing shock (after all, that's what they are, shock absorbers) when just one wheel hits something. That's why they are common on vehicles used off-road. one wheel will often hit a rock or some such.
If you need a steering damper to keep your steering wheel from jerking during normal driving you have a steering system fault and a damper is only masking the problem. Until the damper wears out then then worn or maladjusted components become obvious again.
Off-road a steering damper can be useful even with small tires, like 7.00x15's.
You may have trouble running that large of a tire without a lift. I believe some guys run 33's but they have rubbing problems with large loads and making sharp turns. I don't think you will get 35's under there without a lift.
My truck has a 4 inch lift and 35's. I have never found the need for a steering damper and I do go off-road(in the woods) on occasion. Along with towing and hauling also.
I just figured do 50 bucks I'd put one in. I haven't got the camper yet but was looking at a 12 footer. This is the first truck I've owned without an oem damper so figured for the money and ease of install I would throw one in and get all the handling and stability I can. I've heard they help if u hav a blowout too, and I'm not real excited bout a blowout with 12' truck camper.
You're putting the cart before the horse.
The money would be better spent going to actually fixing your steering problems first. Then if you find you need one off-road, install one.

I understand what ur saying, I don't have any steering problems. I'm just preparing the truck for hauling a truck camper on highway and offroad with slightly bigger tires. The damper is going in, it's 50 bucks, I was asking if there were any brands that were recommended. Not whether I should install one. I always appreciate the info though, thanks
