before I had hg's replaced I was running a 6 to 7 degree split.well while we in there I went ahead and got a new oil cooler, now I'm running a 10 to 11 degree split.it was a new oem cooler from Ed.at the same time I put a coolant filter on also.what I'm wondering is if the coolant filter could be restricting flow some how? right now it's running 191 ect and 201 eot within a few seconds of stopping the eot comes down to 199.after cold soak the eot and ect are within 1 degree of each other.what could be the problem,it's got me stumped.
Not possible to be restricting flow unless it is an inline filter, bypass won't affect it. Possibly got some crap inside that wasn't clean or that's just the way the cooler is.. I run a sinister coolant filter and run 201 coolant 204 oil
Yeah I know but last spring I wasn't planning on doing headgaskets,so since the splits were good, and it was in for headgaskets I figured I would just throw in a new cooler.finny thing is I can see something getting knocked loose if the engine came out.but this was a cab off job.
I read somewhere that the "new improved" cooler didn't cool as well due to the larger gap between the fins to keep it from clogging. I see 10-12 empty or towing with the new cooler, been that way for over 30,000 miles.

I got to thinking, can too much antifreeze and not enough water make the eot' higher being that if there's more antifreeze its thicker and not flowing through the cooler fast enough?
No. Actually some of the EC-1 manufacturers claim a better heat transfer using there products and 60/40 is permissible in even colder climates. Straight water works as does straight anti-freeze... its the mixing % of water that makes it even more freeze protective as straight anti-freeze will actually freeze.

Did you do the EGR delete at the same time as the head gaskets? Mine climbed 4 degrees after installation of only an EGR cooler delete.
No,it's been deleted for 4 years now.what kind of numbers should I be concerned with a delete, since I'm not buying another cooler now.unless it gets worse.
