196? Ford Ranger 250

Hello all

I'm new here and I have a few Questions.

I recently came across a red and white 196? f-250 ranger camper special. The body is in excellent condition considering it has sat since 1987 in a neigbours pasture ( picked it up free). It has a 360 in it and was wondering if it is a good engine. also I'm stumped on the year here is the serial number: f25ycd15112 any help would be apreciated. I'm missing the chrome strip on the driver side box and also on the rear passenger side quarter panel behind the rear tire. the truck is solid it was never used for anything but camping, but it still has the split rim back tires which are death traps what rims will fit ? thank you in advance any input would be greatly appreciated. One final question I'm looking to pick another truck for parts any ideas where I can get on in the calgary, Med hat area

Congrats on the find.....nothing better than free
Cant help with the VIN......only decoder I have accesss to does not go past 70.
As for the rims any 8 bolt rim will fit..... I think the early 90's is when they changed the bolt pattern. Even Dodge ones will fit...Chevs arent a good idea although they will fit with some grinding on the centre hole...I do not think grinding metal off rims is really intelligent
The 360 is a fine engine....although it does not get really terrific gas milage

It's a '68 F250 4x2 w/ 360, built in April at the Ontario assembly plant according to the VIN.

superfarmer 250, There are tons of trucks and parts available in the Calgary area, depending on what you're looking for. Some parts are perpetually scarce but most parts are available if you do a little hunting. One piece rims are $20 a piece. The local bargain magazine (which even has an old ford truck as its cover pic) has tons of parts available. The local wrecking yards are prime for parts. Ask and ye shall receive my friend.

Superfarmer 250, Feel free to email if you're having trouble finding parts down south. I've got some pretty good resources here in Calgary for parts and it always helps to network. And don't forget there is an Alberta/BC chapter of the FTE forum if you want some more local flavour.

Ideally I would like to find a 68 F-250 complete so I could have a parts truck, does anyone know of one, this is probably grasping at straws but oh well.
