anybody mod a titan/transfer flow diesel tank into a gas ccsb
I'm wanting to put a 45-50 gallon gas tank in my crew cab short bed v10 superduty but nobody offers a gas version anymore. so I want to figure out how to convert a diesel tank, does anybody have any suggestions? I've also been looking at a possible excursion tank mod.

It's not the sending units......it's the liability of hauling volatile gas vs diesel. Venting, pressure build protection and possible legal issues over a certain volume seem to be the reasons that you see all those diesel aftermarket tanks and no or very few gas tanks.
I would look into the Excursion 44 gallon tank mod, it will fit where the pickup's spare tires is. For simplicity, I would plumb it as a nurse tank where it would just refill the stock tank when needed. Less complicated plumbing and electrical switching. Just use caution to not overfill the smaller stock tank.

I had an 2004 diesel truck and put a transfer flow 98 gal. transfer tank and drove it for a few years until I traded it in due to the 6.0 P.O.S. breaking down all the time, anyway I took the tank out and installed it on my new 2008 f-250 with the 5.4. The reason they don't sell tanks for gas trucks anymore is the emissions from the fuel tank, and the fact that they are pressure sealed now which is why you get the cel light when you leave the fuel cap loose. So, I called the company and spoke to tech support and the only difference between them was the resistance reading from the fuel tank sending unit as it is an automatic transfer system. The gas truck sending unit is the same as the diesel trucks' so all I had to do was buy the new control to match up to the sending unit- which they are proud of it was costly but as I blow through 300 gals of fuel per month was worth it to me in the long run. There is no difference in the fuel pumps, just the control unit. I also have a camper work box top and the tank was inside, I just made sure it was vented to the outside properly and used it for 8 years like that with no issues. Now I have a 2015 6.7 with the same tank, yes the 3rd truck, but transfer flow made me but a new wiring harness and the computer control box with a new pump to match the sending unit for the main tank ( the sunsa ******* charged me like $750.00) but it has been working fine on my new truck for 2 yrs. now. I can drive for 10 to 14 days without refueling in the busy season or easily go from n.o. to houston and back without stopping so in the long run it is worth the cost. The sending units are different, they read resistance levels to determine the fuel level in the main tank, but it depends on the type of system you have. I hope this helps. P.S. I installed two 12 volt solenoid shutoff valves in the vent and feed transfer lines to the main tank powered by an isolating relay from the transfer pump to prevent de-pressurization, but it still threw the cel for loose gas cap when fuel was tranferred so I just lived with the little light and drove it like that for 8 yrs.

Search Button Worked
Yep... search brought me here.
It's gonna happen... no two ways about it... my CCSB 6.2 is going get a bigger tank. Midship if I can.
Just started research today, all ears for any helpful information about parts.
I saw the post about the similarities between diesel and gas sending units... my question is more mechanically focused... will my fuel pump and housing bolt in?
