Hi,

I need to replace turn signal switch and decided to remove entire column to paint the tube. I have all the original repair Manuels but cannot find where to disconnect the steering shaft under the hood. Is it before the u joint on the column? Any help would be great and thanks for your time

There's a u joint at the bottom of the shaft that would connect to the middle shaft which would thn connect to the steering box. There's also a clamp at the firewall on the engine side that will need loosened in order to pull the column out.

Upper right corner you will see the round firewall bracket that will have the clamp on it. Also you can see where the first u joint will need removed.
