the w250 summer distraction

here is a whats coming soon shot! this is the first twin turbo cummins build we did this summer.. once alex gets his photos up ill post a link! but this is a 1993 W250 5.9 cummins 4x4 we rebuild the motor and make a twin turbo set up for it! i will be running a very similar build to this motor! you can now see some of our handy work! i can stress enough that this is all 100% homebuilt and fabercated!

Diggin the orange & black!

A day (or 365+ of them) late & a dollar short, but I am alive & around.

Saw this 2 pages back & from a year or more ago.

'68-'77/highboy motor mounts are available. 2 sets cut this morning. 1 spoken for & going out already. Other is still up for grabs. 78/79 mounts not really there yet, but the highboy ones should be close enough to make work with a little fab I think.
Hydroboost adapter brackets are now available too if you want to be talked into that swap...!

Oh and my PM box here always hovers darn near full as they don't give you much space. I'll try & do a bit better about keeping it cleared up.

project back on track but in a different direction.

i spent about 3 hours stripping the head and block down last night.. the big issue with this project has been money.. i am now going to wrap this project up and not sink the money in it.. the build was to be about 700 hp with auto tranny.. i am now going to build more along a healthy daily drive.. manual tranny to keep things simple and reliable..

this project will move fast for the motor i will try to keep good picture.. the pics i took last night was an after thought from my kitchen door way..

Glad to see you are back at it. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a little just to get her done. You can always pump up the cummins later on. I sacrificed on the twin turbos something I still really want to do to keep the egt's down.

we built a compound set up.. it works pretty good. 351cw with a s472.. only thing it needs now is a p-pump. the truck we did this to is a ve-pump and can support enough fuel.

i got the block and the head to the machine shop..
the guy before me must have put that stop leak stuff in the coolant because there is orange sap looking stuff all over in the cooling jacket.
i cleaned up all the painted parts with soap and water..
ill be sand blasting soon and hope to start painting and reassembling when the shop gets the block done.

We scrapped a 1994 2500 dodge this summer.. we gutted all the parts we could off it and made out pretty good! the motor was junk but alex got the p-pump for the truck that was shown above. i got a few engine peaces that i needed and i got a 5 speed transmission!! so it looks like i have most of the big ticket items to ge this thing fitted!!

How did you clean your aluminum engine parts like the front gear housing and the oil filter bracket? Mine are all gunked up with years of grime and paint. Conventional methods used for steel and cast you cant do with aluminum. I have been debating how to clean these for a very long time and then items like the vacuum pump and power steering pump assembly.

the oil filter housing i don't remember being aluminum.. but i just sand blasted everything. tape off your sealing edges.. make sure you clean them very well. i use silica sand for blasting but be aware there are health risk if you don't have proper personal protection equipment and well ventilated area like out side. different media is better for aluminum. sand although very cheap and last very long time is not so great for aluminum.. i would look at maybe glass bead.. google blasting media and you'll find out what will work best for you.

Aaron-71 glad you joined! i hope to get a lot done in the next few weeks. i just finished up our big house remodel. that will free up time and money!

milling the rocker arm mounts 2/5/18

since I'm using ARP head studs you have to tap the block deeper. mill the rocker arm pedestals. i kept cyl1 assembly together by laying them out in a row and i center punch 1 dot for cyl 1 and 2 for cyl 2 and so on. more to come ill post later today!! we got the engine assembled and painted!
