Ok guys, I'm having an electrical problem with my 2000 F250 Super Duty. It is 4 wheel drive with the 7.3 diesel. It started out last summer. If I park the truck but didn't turn off the AC (or heat) and then it rained, the fan would come on. No key in the switch and the switch off but the fan would come on and run till the battery was dead. OK so I adapt. Make sure the AC/ heater is off when I park. The other day I went out to get the mail after the big rain we had Wednesday and the starter is engaging. Switch off and no key in it. Not constantly but just for a second or two but it would do it over and over again. So I disconnect the batteries. Let it dry out a few days and yesterday I hooked up the battery charger to top off the batteries, I reconnected the batteries and started the truck and thought everything was normal but while it was setting there running the starter begins to engage again. Has anyone had this problem? Any idea where to look first?
Whenever I see "electrical problem in the rain" I think of the windshield leaking onto the fuse box and GEM under the dash. Fairly common issue. Happens with running lights too. See if the fuse panel is wet up in there. If wet your gf's hairdrier pointed at it for an hour will remove all moisture. But if it has been going on a while there may be some corrosion to deal with. Some can find and seal the leak, others fail repeatedly then get a new seal and/or windshield installed.
