Nice to see a good thread come back like this!

Keep up the good work. I'd be lying if I didn't say I am a little jealous.

I'm supposed to be in Hawaii right now, but we had to postpone. So I'm fiddling with the truck some more. I got the injectors, valve train, intake plenums, and uppipes done today. Next up will be high pressure oil pumps and figuring out which route I want to go with my turbo oil return this time.

Unlimited Diesel did my injectors this time because Jim does not have the tooling to do bigger than 350cc. These are 450/400s.

Looking good! I'll be reinstalling my injectors in the next 1-2 weeks when I get them back from Jim, not anywhere near as big though (160/0)... 450/400 is huge! It's gonna be fun!

Well, if you can't be in Hawaii, the garage is the next best thing!

No sir, I sure didn't. My 400k mile engine had one cylinder down around 320psi compression, so I decided to try this one. This engine is a 300k mile engine I yanked from a wrecked truck about a year and a half ago. I plan on building my factory engine to handle the power while I run this one detuned. I have the parts to make 1000+hp. I just don't have the parts to hold that power. I'm gonna try running this one around 800hp for awhile with an extra 100hp or so of nitrous on stand by in case I need it mid way through a pass. There's a couple 900+HP 6.4s in my area that say 7.3s are slow and I'd like to prove them wrong with a stock engine.

Edit- I almost forgot. I added one more part to the list that I didn't originally intend on. I'm doing a water to air intercooler on the truck. I came across a deal on a 2000hp Spearco water to air cooler that I couldn't pass up. So I'll be running that with ice water instead of the DI intercooler I was running.

So you're going to try to put down 800-900 HP on a stock 300 kmi 7.3... Don't be mad when she lets go on the first pass. Should be one heck of a ride lol.

Nope. I'm curious if the irate mount moves the 400 series charger to the pass side. I have 3/16" thick plenums and my inlet side is ON the plenum. Those di plenums are pretty sexy! Wish I had room. I sunk my charger WAY down to clear the could.

Travis knows this mill is just temporary...his old one made 500s for years. Detuned a bit it'll last a while...ask matt Maier...

Hopefully it does, but it about as risky as what you've been doing to your trans lol.

Exactly. Matt Maier ran his truck a whole race season without any engine trouble. It finally bent some rods a couple weeks ago when he sprayed it a little too soon and got a nitrous backfire. With that said, I'm well aware that the factory forged rods get unhappy with over 600hp. The rods very well could exit stage left on the very first pass, but I'm hoping that Matt Robinson can work some magic to help me make a few passes before that happens. If I only had one block to work with, I wouldn't risk it.

Aaron, I haven't test fit the turbo yet. This isn't an Irate setup, it's a Carson Stauffer mount. I talked with him about the plenums before he built the mount and he said that he thinks it will clear with the S400. If it doesn't, I'll just spring for another set of Riff Raff plenums. I've been happy with the Riff Raff Plenums on my SD so far.

My girlfriend said that the truck has to be done before April so that I can make the Texas Diesel Nationals race. That's another reason for throwing it together with stock rods. I can't fund a billet rod engine in that short of a period. I'll need a good year or so to fund a billet rod engine with ported heads, cam, and all that nonsense.
