Ecoboost oil change questions

I remember having to use the plastic dealer promotional license plates to keep the oil from going everywhere on the Ecoboost equipped trucks due to it hitting either the RF tire or the sway bar. That got me thinking about how I didn't want to deal with that working on the floor/ramps compared to doing it on a lift.

That being said has anyone installed a Fumoto valve? I think I'd like to try one on this truck.

Then there's the obvious oil change question that I'm sure has been asked 1000x's but what interval and oil is everyone using. I'm thinking Pennzoil Gold 5w30 at 5k miles. I'd love to use Mobil 1 0w40 but with possible fuel dilution issues idk if I would be willing to leave it in long enough to get the true advantages of a Euro spec syn. Then there's Pennzoil conventional 10w30 that has an insanely good additive package and NOACK better than any non SOPUS (and also commonly available)synthetic. Personally never been a fan of Motorcraft. I know it's good stuff but my personal vehicles(the ones that did consume oil) have always consumed more of it than any other brand.

I have always used the Motorcraft syn blend in all my Fords and never had any issues. Buy it a Walmart and change every 5000 miles.

I'm putting in a Fumoto my next OC. When I pulled the plug, I underestimated the distance it would shoot so I made a little mess. For the filter, when I put the front on jack stands, the oil came right out the square hole. No problem there for me.

I run Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30. Here is a bunch of reading material on it, if you're into all the technical aspects:

What interval do you run? Until the minder tells you to change or a specific mileage?

That Ultra is good stuff. I'm a member of bitog but haven't been very active on any forum in the last few years.

I have Pennzoil conventional in mine, and plan on changing it out after about 5,000 miles. Will probably go with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 next time around and go 7,500 miles. Both intervals are a bit early, but they make me feel better.

My Ecoboost is the first vehicle I've had a Fumoto valve on. Makes a huge difference in not making a mess. I have the longer nipple on mine, that you can add a hose to, and direct the oil right into a container. If you do your own OC's, it's a must have for the Ecoboost IMO.

Yeah, I read a lot before settling on it. I'm gonna try 7500 & send it to Blackstone for an OA. I sent my first sample in but I really didn't know what oil was in it. I took a guess that it was MC 5w-30, but they said it was more like 5w-20. Either someone put the wrong stuff in, or this engine really shears it down. Other than having elevated silicates and the lower vis, it was a good report regarding wear metals, etc. The elevated silicates are from the S&B filter -- I'm pretty convinced of that. Oiled filters weren't that good on turbo diesels probably for the same reason they aren't so good on these... If this one comes back elevated, I'm changing out my intake again.

I change my oil when the olm gets down to about 20%. That is typically around 7500 miles. I go to the dealer and get motorcraft synthetic blend. Probably more important than the oil is the filter. There have been issues some brands.

My long time and trusted service adviser told me that if a vehicle comes in for a major engine job, they don't look at the brand of oil, only the brand of filter.
