Turbo rebuild kit

Does it matter which one as long as it has the 360 bearing?

Ya know, ..... there have been a few people who have damaged the shaft and the housing putting these back together.

I've done both the OE 270 style and updated 360 on a couple different turbos.

Turbo rebuild kit

Im thinking of replacing the unison ring and vanes as well (less cleaning to do) would it be worth that or just a cleaning and reseal? I have to do something fast because my turbo is stuck bad and keep running 30 plus pounds of boost, getting 9mpg, and setting the wrench light and overboost code.

As long as the pitting isn't too bad, I would think a thorough cleaning would do the trick just fine.

Sure verified it this morning. Initial start up vgt 85 and doesn't very until I over boost here a pop then the vgt goes to normal. At idle it's 41 and goes up to 50 something at 20lbs. So that booger is sticking ovenight and while sitting at work until it's beat to snot trying to get up to speed. Wouldn't be the vgt selinoid messing up could it?

It is possible, but most likely thing is sticking unison ring / vanes. It's fairly common.

Let us know how it goes!

Did you go with the 360deg bearing kit?

Some pics of the actual rebuild would be cool if you have time...

Was gonna say, I just rebuilt my kit with Clay's kit and I stuck with the 270 degree thrust bearing. The 6.0 turbo is quite easy to rebuilt like the 7.3 turbo, except when it comes to the VGT actuator. I decided not to venture into the VGT piston and risk it leaking because I couldn't put it back in right.

There's a kit at oreilly you can buy to quickly and easily clean your turbo. Ford actually sells it as part of the turbo recondition kit, it just costs more.

You'll need two of these depending on how bad your turbo is, but it will clean it up nicely. Ask me how I know...

Guess i knocked the unison ring loose good this morning as the drive home was normal. At startup and idle vgt was 41. Still tearing it down this weekend though.
