Let's see pictures of your installed aluminum radiators!

I need to replace the radiator on my 1978 F150 Ranger Explorer 4x4. I've been reading about the aluminum radiators here on the forum. I would like to see pictures of them already installed as I'm trying to decide whether I want to keep the stock look or go with the custom look of a shiny aluminum. Post your pics please!

Most mount just fine. I originally bought one from griffin radiator (made in USA). But for >$600 you would think it would come with a mounting flange for the shroud. This one is from Amazon for $200ish. Most other guys swear by champion.

Don't mind the mid-rewire mess.

Here are some pics of my install. This is before I installed the AC,so a bit more cluttered now than these pics show. Bit it gives a good view of the radiator.

I thought there was a thread about it, but I can't find it - what's the thermal transfer difference with an aluminum radiator? I have a '78 with a 400 and a factory radiator (thin, I think it's only a 2-row core), no extra cooling, and it's rotted out. Do I need a 3-row, or will a 2-row work? I can't seem to find a solid answer on how much is enough - It sees extremes, it does a lot of low-speed work in the middle of summer, but I also drive it a fair amount when it's -30 too. Right now it runs a little hot when you're lugging it at low speeds, but I'm sure it's 3/4 plugged with rust, plus the fins are in pretty bad shape.

Brass is twice as conductive as aluminium, but modern radiator construction techniques means aluminium is more efficient in equivalent size. So a smaller radiator can be just as effective. They are not generally repairable like a brass radiator can be though. I have a Champion on hand but haven't installed it in my slick. They ship with a cheap looking 16 lb. cap. While the radiator can handle the pressure be certain the heater core can before using. I'd always recommend using a Motorcraft cap of suitable lb. rating, and a Motorcraft thermostat.

I run a 4 row champion radiator. It was relatively cheap and lifetime warranty made in usa. Cant beat that
