I did it to myself again -- I drank too much water and now I feel like I'm going to burst.
I was out riding bikes with my son, sweating like a pig for about 2 hours. When we got back home, we got Slurpees at the 7-11. I got a 28-oz Slurpee and finished that right away. Still thirsty, I filled up the 28-oz cup with water and drank that down. Then it was supper time, and I filled the 28-oz cup up again with water.
So, I drank 28+28+28 ounces for a total of 84 ounces of liquid. So that's a gallon (64 ounces) plus another 20 ounces. Sheesh.
But when I was doing it, I was drinking because I still felt thirsty. I know that eventually I will feel better this evening, so no big deal.
Still -- could I be hurting myself, drinking this much liquid?
I do that at times too, drink so much water to the point that I will actually throw it all up, and still be thirsty. I doubt that I am diabetic, but I havn't looked into it.
Man you are looking at one of the world's biggest water drinkers..The Gov almost told me to stop and they had to give me my own water tower... lol
I love water and I never drink soda at all,
Water, tea and lemonaid, mostly water all the time..
Water is good for you and helps your body filter out poisens..
Taking in alot of h20 usually creates alot of urine output. And
potassium is one of the first to go with it.Hope your taking a daily
vitamin supplement.Bananas are also an excellent source.Helps
keep ya' regular too.Know what I mean?
I chug water all the time too - even when I get up at night to pee I'll chug some more.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but diabetics can't process tons of sugar. If you're drinking down hundreds of grams of sugar per day in soda + lemonade without problems... you're not diabetic?
I have my own lawn business and i know i drink at least 2 gallons if not more of water a day. As far as peeing it out i don't have to worry about that............I sweat it out!

A gallon (U.S.) is 128 ounces.
When I am hiking I will drink 40 ounces, 2 bottles, every mile. You just need to be sure and replace the sodium and potassium in your body, you will quickly feel lethargic.

Several years ago, I went rattlesnake hunting with my Dad one day. It was very hot, and very dry. Drank lots of water when I got back to the truck. That just made me feel worse. I felt so sick I thought I was going to die. Actually, at the time, dying sounded like a much better option than how I felt. Stopped at a store and bought a bottle of Gatoraid. I felt better almost immediately after drinking it.

If I understand your question right...
Drinking that much water during the day is good, especialy if your involved in streneous activity. But to drink that much liquid in a short amount of time may be another matter. You shouldn't feel like you have to gorge yourself with water in order to quell your thirst. It may just be a matter of drinking more water over a longer period of time. There are many health benefits to drinking lots of water. Better to ask your doctor or pick up a health magazine that addresses this issue. Here's my 2 cents...
In addition to the above posts, in order to not feel so thirsty after a couple hours of bike riding, try taking along a water bottle or two if you don't already. Drink during your activity and you may not feel so thirsty afterward. Drinking cold or ice water is also better because cold water is absorbed into your system faster and helps cool you down. Don't glup.
Drinking water during the day even when you not involved in sports or streneous activity will also help. Don't wait until you feel thirsty to drink water. Keep yourself well hydrated before you start sweating out alot of fluids. In other words, don't let the tank drop below half empty before filling up. You'll have plunty of reserve to fall back on.
I have a cup of ice water at my desk at work. I sip ice water all night. I keep a gal. jug of water in the fridge. I take a couple of swigs when I pass through the kitchen. Just a couple of ideas. Hope this helps.
