they make horn buttons that mount to the steering column or you can use the start push button.......just make sure you got a good ground connection and your good to go.
The wire that went in the bottom of the original steering box goes to one side of the horn button, the other side goes to ground.
There is a modification you can do to the steering column to keep use of the original horn button. Mid Fifty sells a kit: 1948-64 Ford F-100 Horn Conversion, For Stock Column, Toyota Steering
They appear to be currently out of stock ( 1/30/2016 ) but you might keep an eye out for when they get more. Or another vendor may have them.
Or as Moejr pointed out, they make one that clamps to the steering column. If you can't find one at a parts house, you can get them where they sell golf cart parts. Again, the horn wire goes to one side of the button, the other to ground.
If you use the starter button, as Moejr suggested, there are two kinds. The older button, I don't remember what year was the cut-off, is a ground switch. You only need to run the horn wire to the switch. The newer button, like your 55 uses, has two connections. Again, the horn wire to one side, ground to the other.
We put ours in the hole for the original wiper switch location since the Mercury cap on the replacement horn button caused it to jamb , we very rarely use the horn anyway .
