Upgraded to the Big Dog...

Lots of great questions. I've specifically looked for Shocks as well with the same results as you. Also, I've noticed that the positioning as well as the size of the front and rear suspension components are dramatically different than a F350. This might be the reasoning.
Thanks!

This brings me to the question...if N tires are rate for 75mph, then why do I see truckers blowing by me around 90mph? Are big rig tires different?
Thanks! It makes me chuckle to think how much this thing can tow. The "mantra" of the overkill club...better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!
BTW...I mainly focus on Porsche's at my shop and on the track. But, I just had to have the new Mustang GT350 which is the reason why I had to get a bigger trailer. Just cool to have the big rig hauling my GT350 and I am sure Ford guys, and most car guys for that matter, will appreciate this car.
Enjoy...

That is the drawback with the 19.5" wheels, especially the N rating. I am not a speed demon while driving my truck, but when I am not towing it is not a big deal to go 85-90 in a SD. The speed rating is going to kill me when unloaded.

The new generation continental HSR's that our trucks have are rated for 87mph, a nice buffer when unloaded. Was going to change them out in the spring with all the negative feedback I read about them, but I found an article from Continental doing a complete revamp of the tire. 20% better wear apparently, quieter, no chunking anymore, and better ride/more efficient casing. I've been running a toyo winter tire so I have no idea how the HSR's run.

I love the 5.0!! Yeah, the GT350 is a real hoot to drive and it sounds so amazing - one of the best factory exhausts I have heard. Gonna see how it performs at the track next month putting it to the test.

The Continental 19.5s that came on our '08 F450 Med unit were the first tires EVER To reach a mileage of over 30K on a Ford ambulance in our area. In fact, they were taken off at 37k miles and most truck owners wouldn't have taken them off then, but due to the fact that med units haul patients, they were replaced. That is unheard of on a 1 ton ambulance. You are indeed correct on the newer version of the tire wearing and riding better. The ride is MUCH less harsh than the tires from 7 years ago. That was the main complaint of the 450s then when Ford decided to "wuss down" the 450 in the '11-'14 models. We in fact still have that unit as a front line truck again now as two of our Freightliners have been totaled. The truck is on its second engine and has been deleted and tuned. The difference in the tires has been noticed by everyone that has driven the truck in the past 7 years.

Wuss down!!! LOLLL!!!! Good way to put it. Glad to hear there's a noticeable improvement, I was going to do Michelin XZE's in the spring but they're only a L rated tire (75mph). Ford definitely did some ride improvements along with continental, this truck rides waaaay better than my '13 Wuss450. LOL
