Need thoughts on '93, 4wd project truck.

Hey guys and gals!

Needing some input on a possible purchase of a '93, F-150, 351, 4wd standard cab truck.

What would you offer given the info and pics if it runs and passes inspection?
I'm thinking lower than what he is offering, but would like some input before setting or settling on a price.

Here is the link.

I'm far from an expert but if it passes inspection and it runs, $900 seems good to me. It is odd that in one picture the box appears to be black but in another it is red. He does say the box is shot so if the running gear is good you could always part it out and get much more than what you paid.

Yeah I noticed the beds didn't correlate...interesting. He said it's missing the box, so I count down from there.

Then the front plastic valance in the front is broken, missing on the driver side.

I'm thinking in the $700 range perhaps..$300 will get new exhaust, new lenses, some decent used tires, if it needs them.

I'm dreaming..I found another truck, so I'm not sure which direction to go now..

I didn't notice the valance. Not sure if you need that to pass inspection but I remove mine as they break off in the snow or deep mud anyhow. If you do get new lenses I just got some eagle eye lens for mine and I like them. They even came with new bulbs.
FWIW, I got 18 US mpg or so on the highway on my last trip so I don't think the valance has a huge impact on the mpg.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean by the valance, but hate seeing it busted off.

I'm picky when it comes down to money changing hands.

i just picked up a 1990 f250 4x4 auto with a fantastic running 351. the trans doesn't shift, power steering doesn't work and the brake pedal goes to the floor. body is ok. i paid $700 and drove it home. (not the safest thing but it wasn't a long drive.)

That price is on par with what they normally ask in my area. If you get lucky you can find them around 600, 4x4 are few and far between though, and are gone off craigslist in just a day or two. If that transmission shifts good, I would pay 900, but would offer 700 first. You want lose money at 900, especially with a good e4od. I would not give more than 500 with a bad transmission.

Where I'm from $900 is a "deal" for anything that is 4WD, and runs and drives. The fact that I can't see through the bottom of the doors, fender and cab corners only sweetens the deal.

Truck is 23 years old so for its shape based on pictures and not knowing the area Missouri that well I would say $900 seems fair. If transmission good and 4x4 engages that is worth $900 in my book. That's just where I'm from and that's based on upstate NY. I'm in California now and would be willing to be $900 is fair price here as well.

i think $900 is a fair asking price. if it is as listed. being from MO there is a good chance of not being a rust bucket. cab corners and fenders are easy to find. but if the frame where rotted out like many northern trucks i would walk away.

For 900, that would be an amazing deal.. where I'm from that is. I paid 900 for my 95 F150 years ago, it had over twice the mileage of the truck you're looking at and a rotted out bed.. and it was *still* a good deal around here.

Thanks to everyone who replied!!!

I ended talking myself out of it after coming across a '95, Eddie Bauer, F-150, 4wd, Ext Cab.

Started a new post about things it needs!

Thanks again for their honest opinions!
