New guy: 1947 Mercury one ton.
Thought i would post a few pics of my new to me truck and ask a few questions.
Truck is stock with factory diff/motor/trans/etc.
I will be replacing all the suspension/tires/engine/trans/etc.
what is the valve of these parts when selling, is there much demand.
I will post more pictures once i get it home on Sunday and in the garage.
Thanks for your time.

Wow Dennis, that's a great score. Looks to be in really nice shape. Depending on your location I might be interested in some of the gear. Like you, the majority of enthusiasts are also removing the stock running gear from the bigger, slower trucks. Only a few weirdos such as myself and a few other diehards like to run these trucks as they were in the forties. You can do a lot of research, but you'll find that those parts won't be flying off the shelf. I just bought two really nice tonner wheels for 20 bucks each from a guy that took 4 to some big swap meets and nobody looked at them. After that he sent two to the scrapyard, but the two I bought had tires too stuck on for his easy removal. Glad you were able to post up pictures. It really is a cool truck in Awesome condition. You in BC?

The tonner uses the big truck fenders. I have found them (fronts) all over the place. People with half tons buy them at swap meets and later find they don't look right on a pickup. They do interchange though. Just the wheel opening is different. If you are putting smaller tires on it you might consider pickup fenders. But on the bed you are pretty much stuck with the big fenders unless you want to do a ton of work on box sides. Maybe you need modern 3/4 ton 8 lug gear like I put on my '59 f350. Heck, I have done 80 mph on my cellphone gps speedometer in mine. Then use 255 85 16 radials. They are 33" tall and will fill those wheel arches!

Thanks for the heads up on the wheel openings. I plan to put a very large tire on the back, 14X32 (pro street look), but will need to play with the front to see what works.
What is the opening size difference from a 1/2 to 1 ton. I see it in pictures, but it's hard to gauge by looking.
Thanks

You are welcome, and welcome to the site. I really like the old Hot Rod. It is cool that the original pin striping is still visible. The way I understand it is that the fenders were bent with the collapse of the barn. The metal in the fenders is comparatively easy to work with. Try to keep us updated on your progress. The pictures are great!
