gets some parts from local hardware store to make this, then apply 20 PSI and check for leaks with some water and dish soap or something that bubbles up, be carful in case it pops off like a shot gun, might want to tie it on with a strap just in case.

This is what I used. It clamps on to the boot that goes to the turbo. The foaming glass cleaner stays where you spray it and keeps on bubbling.

I was hoping to find a spider oring slipped or WHO but I found lots a bubbles coming from the plenum's. The compressor was nearly running non stop set to 20psi.

I found some boost leaks....

2 hrs later...
Now I don't want to put any of the crap back in that I took out. If I can swing it I would like to do efuel right now.

If I can find a buyer for everything else I would like to go to a t4 and one of the 300 series turbos. I know this is a big step. As I will be replacing everyhingvthevturbo connects to but I think it may be best.

And it is dark here and below zero. Block heater is plugged in and I took it all apart after running it a bit.

Hoping this one is clearer...

Why is there sludge built up in the furthest corners of the intake?

I used a gasket scraper to clean the heads and then wire brushed them. I gave them a good wipe with acetone. I want to clean the intake runners out as well. I tried to get the shop vac in there but it didn't work very well. Any suggestions?

I am not sure how to judge clean in this process.

I don't see any sludge in the pic, is it external or internal?

External is from a leak

Internal is from CCV most likely

Lots of stuff outside.

This was inside on the farthest parts of the plenum.

Too the topic of plenums... if I get a set of clays and build my own spider it think it would work for now, however the stick ones came out real clean and could go back in for now.

I looked at the fancy air kits from irate and the exchange rate is not in my favor.

Had a little progress today.

Filters and bases are here. 3/4" f orb fitting is on its way. Fuel pump is here tomorrow. Last piece is the regulator which is proving to be a little harder to get. So for now the plenums are really sealed. The ebps tube is being rebuilt and the fuel bowl is getting cleaned and put back in as the regulator is not here for a week or so.

The fuel line fittings at the back of the head look like they may leak. Are they compression fittings or oring?

They have a square cut o-ring in them Nate. Riffraff sells them if you need to replace them.

You can leave the fittings in the heads and use 5/16 line with compression nuts and ferrels. the fittings in the heads are actually half of a 5/16 compression fitting. They used 1/4 line and the thick square cut o-rings on them though. I would say for vibration dampening. I did 5/16 line and compression fittings on mine and haven't had any problems with vibration yet. Not to say that I won't eventually, I don't know, but if I do I'll do something else with them.

Did you use copper lines then and run them too a splitter or tee?

The ORB fitting came to the shop late today so I have it in the morning. I'll check for some square orings at Ford tomorrow and at the industrial supply.

Pretty excited to see this happen. Gotta sell the d66 and all its parts next.
