I had an '86 Aerostar. Put 160,000+ before I traded it in. Head gaskets, water pump, power steering unit, windshield wiper motor, starter (twice), tranny (rebuilt at 100,000, lost OD at 150,000). I was the only one who could drive it. If anyone else did, it would break down, or something would start to go. B@stards!

I had a `92 Ranger SuperCab, 5 speed transmission. Went through the transmissions and finally had the right front suspension rot out. Bought me a new F-150 KR. Fixed to suspension problem and sold it with 125k on it, was still going strong. It is still on the road, see it now and then.

My wife's `97 Taurus has 119k on it and runs like the day that we bought it. It does have a nagging stumble on start up at times. CEL is on and at last check has DTCs of P0133, 0420, and 0430. Haven't done anything with it as she is looking towards a new Montego or 500.

1990 Aerostar 3.0 right now at 283,500 and still a great engine. Changed oil every 4500 to 5000 miles with Moble 1. Burns NO oil, still on the same tranny and changed tran fluid every 50,000 to 60,000. Only thing this Van eats is heater cores but just found that was a engine gound problem that produced a electrosis issue. Just run a gound from the heater core to engine block and the coolent voltage went away.

Just hit 160,000 hauling a load of green firewood 70 mph down from Maine to Boston area. Never any engine problems. Am having a synchronizer problem. Need a source for the shaft, sensor and anlignment tool. Seems they make several kits.

89 aerostar with 148,000 and still runs like a top, the van don't look so good though. Starting to get a slight rod knock though.
