I just finished the modded b-codes with f350 dually factory blocks and my hellwig sway bar end links aren't remotely close to reaching. I have the old style bar. Checked on hellwigs website and they don't offer longer end links. Where can I get a set or do I have to make my own?

 

Go back to the donor and snag the rear sway bar.

 

No doner. Bought all the factory components brand new.

 

I modded the original Hellwig old style non-adjustable end links for my modded B code installation. Removed the rod portion and welded in a new longer and thicker threaded rod in it's place, used a tubular sleeve from top mount to a washer at the bottom to capture the lower bushings at the bar ends with two nuts under to lock in in position, the bar ends sit level now.

I would call Hellwig again, they supply adjustable end links with the bars currently.

 

The adjustable is for the new style not the old style which I have.

I thought about doing it with threaded rod but worried about the rod bending.

 

My setup has been this way for almost 4 years now with no issues. I forgot that the new sway bar has the end link holes oriented differently than our old style.

 

What diameter threaded rod did you use?

 

Honestly I don't recall. I think the sleeve I used was 5/8" OD structural steel (I was using a lot of that stuff on Quarter Midget projects at that time so had some on hand) and it is a snug fit.

 

Might have to go that route.

Since you have almost the same suspension setup as I do, what did you find to be the largest tires you could stuff on the ex. Cary said 35x12.50 on stock 18" 2004 Harley wheels are the biggest that will fit. I'd like to clear 37's. I have modded b-codes with f350 dually blocks and X-codes with 2" shackle drop. Looks kind of stupid now with 31" tires.

 

I used the original end links that came with the sway bar. I don't think they have the bar level, but I've been using it that way just fine. They would certainly be easy enough to lengthen if you have to.

 

I tried using mine. With the bar as far up as it can go I'm still 2 inches short.

 

If I think of it I'll look at mine tomorrow in the daylight ( my truck is roughly 5 inches over stock). I had mine off this past summer and figured I'd rattle can it to clean it up. Took the sleeves off the threaded rod and cleaned everything and painted them. If you don't weld, it should be a really easy job for a fab shop to cut the threaded rod off, weld on longer rod and make a couple new sleeves.

 

This setup put me 6.5 inches over stock

 

One more thought if you don't weld. What if you made an angle bracket (piece of angle iron, for lack of a better description) to bolt to the bottom of the frame. Drill the appropriate sized hole for the end link bolt, and have the sway bar mount to the bracket . I've seen this done for the front bar with some lift kits, instead of having longer end links.

 

How in the world are you getting 6.5" inches of lift out of modded B codes and the F-350 blocks?
I run modded B codes with the F-350 blocks AND two sections of the thick factory traction bar and my EX has only 5" of additional ride height from that combination.
