Manual?
I would only buy it if it had a 6-speed manual. My wife and I are Ford people, and both prefer to drive sticks. We bought a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited a couple of years ago, mainly because of the transmission (6-speed manual). Couldn't get a Ford truck or SUV with a manual, so they lost our business for that purchase. The Jeep is gutless and leaks like a sieve. Had it in four times for leak repairs. Finally told them the last time I wanted all new seals. Seems to be working, so far. If the Bronco really ends up with something over 300 hp, a manual transmission and doesn't leak, I would definitely buy it over the Jeep.

it looks like a jeep that went to the circus lmao.
when asked, they said they were going for the 3 year old toddler toy look.......nailed it!
they stated; remember the pinto? well we wanted to out due ourselves.
they asked; do you remember the average ford car styling of the 80's? well we wanted to do something so those will be remembered as looking good.

most of today's peeps buy the "off road" vehicles as image machines and this should be right up their alley . now me and a good portion of us on here buy 'em for what they were intended for and beat the scheise out of 'em and drag 'em out of the local mudholes with a winch and other things on a regular basis . the last 4x4 i had was an 83 f150 with a 302 and 4 speed . i broke every u joint in that thing 3 or 4 times , replaced the engine twice , and dented the hades out of the body , weren't no mall cruiser like most of the ones built and bought today ............ times are a changing and it isn't sitting well with this ARSEHOLEASAURUS !!!! hades even if they did build one it'd be powered by a putrid eco boost v6 and offer electric butt wipers in the seats to coddle all the wannabe cool yuppies and soccer moms .......... there isn't but a handful of hairy chested he man v8 powered rear drive vehicles left in this world .....

I am pretty sure that the Bronco will NOT return, and I hope if it does, Ford does NOT go with the retrostyle concept.
Too many automakers are doing it and to me the trend is getting old.
Ford will continue to work on the F150 and Superduty lines since they are still leading sellers. The FSeries are still the best selling vehicles(again) and
I am sure FoMoCos highest profit makers.

And much like the original Bronco, this one will sidestep Wrangler by offering a mildly more livable, refined product, at the expense of off-road capability at the limits.”
Wrangler or it's not going to compete with the Wrangler..
How exactly is it going to compete ?

It looks too much like a Scion Breadbox. Time to hand it back to the stylists for another try. OTOH, you might get some crossover buyers from Scion since it's now belly up.

What I expect from Ford is an Explorer or Escape with a Bronco name plate.
Ford has as the British say 'lost the plot'.
They design their 'SUV's' to coddle the soccer moms and simulated lifestyle crowd (aka poseurs).
Do they have the ability to make a Wrangler beater? Maybe.
Do they have a design group that can come up with one, and get it past the bean counters and upper level execs?
That is the real question.
