info on GT40 heads plse
Broncodave
They do not have a website listed but if you purchase a muscle mustang fast ford magazine they have the add in there every week. However, they do have an e-mail address if you are interested bigrdh at earthlink.net
Yeah I cannot wait to see what car craft gets out of that 351 with the gt40"p" heads. I read an article one time where they flowed them and with a little math figured they were good for something short of 400hp. Who knows? Later

Just for info on Explorers...
The 95, 96, and early 97 (manf. date through around Feb. 97) came with GT-40 heads and an internal EGR setup.
The late 97 and up were manufactured with the GT-40P heads and had an external EGR valve with DPFE setup.
Any of the GT-40 headers will fit both heads, but like they said - the P's are a PITA to change plugs and wires on if you use regular headers on...
The easiest way to tell the difference on an Explorer is:
1) Gt-40 heads are stamped GT, GT-40P heads have a P stamp
2) If the Explorer has a tube going from the EGR valve to the passenger header and a bung welded in to the header - it has GT-40P heads...

I know this is an old thread, but it never hurts to bring back the dead...
David, you mentioned that the Explorer GT40 heads used an internal EGR setup. If I'm considering using these heads on a 351w truck motor, are there any passages that have to be blocked, or can the heads be installed and used as-is with the existing EGR setup on the plenum?

Well according to what I have read and what the above says, the gt-40 internal means they have the egr crossover tube in the back, which I believe your 92 efi has, so it will work, you may have to do some minor adjustments, but nothing impossible.
The gt-40p with external egr, I am certain they do not have the crossover tube nor emissins drilled, so if you have the crossover tube (runs from head to head in the back) then you would need to have these heads drilled, should you wanna use them.
Good luck
