83 ford f250 auto to manual swap
#2
easy list
I did the same thing a year ago.
I used a hydralic clutch out an 87 with zf5.
I needed a pedal assembly from manual truck. The frame had to be drill because the trans was longer, just moved the cross member back. I had to manually wire the clutch switch and backup lights. Pretty straight forward.
Trans, clutch pedal bracket, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, line. If you are 4wd and the trans is a different length you need the front driveshaft from the doner truck.

The brake & clutch pedal assembly is a unit by itself; earlier-year trucks used mechanical clutches and hydraulic clutches came about someplace around 83 or 84, I forget exactly. But you want the pedal assembly that matches the clutch assembly you are wanting to use.
There is a fair amount of this stuff already described and talked about if you do some research in the archives here....

People always say "just move the crossmember back", but when I changed to a manual I had to move the crossmember back one inch AND get the correct offset upper crossmembers to match. In 89 the factory already had the holes drilled for the lower crossmember but there are no extra holes for the upper ones. And it would be terrible to drill those unless the bed was off. But what they did was have crossmembers with different offsets to match up correctly. Fortunately I had the donor truck there and use those upper crossmembers.
