Riffraff sells a replacement pigtail. I just recently replaced my pigtail because one of the wires had a bare spot on it and It was causing my truck to cut out randomly. Anyways, I would replace the pigtail. It's easy enough to do. There are directions on the replacement pigtail on which wire to connect to. If I remember correctly, one of the wires was the same, and the other was slightly different.

Not sure from the description... is it the wires to the IPR by the fuel bowl, or to the ICP on the driver side head? ICP is the sensor, the IPR does the work.

Pretty sure both pigtails are available to splice in.

I don't think either will be damaged, but good wires are necessary to proper operation.

Yeah the sensor with the tin nut... 2 wires. Does it matter which wire goes to whichever side on the new pigtail?

If you look at the connector plug, it can only be oriented one way. If neither of the wires on the new pigtail have the same colors as the old wires, then I would unplug the old connector. Make sure that you look at the end of it and match it to the new connector. Once you figure out which side goes up (it should only plug in one way), then you can make sure that the wire on the left connects to whatever color the original wire is, and do the same for the right. There are only 2 wires so you should be able to match them up. You could also mark the old plug on top with something noticeable. Unplug the old connector and then plug in the new connector. Then you can figure out which side goes up on the new connector. Then take a picture of how the wires are connected to the old connector and cut them off. Then you can match wires to the new connector.

Yeah kind of reason I asked cause the wires were missing the coating for a good 3" off the plug where i snipped the connector off, and not sure what color went to which side or if it even makes a difference... I looked at a few pictures on Google looks to show yellow wire is driver side of the plug.

I kept my old pigtail for reference, I can take a look at it for you and report back to you. I'm working graveyard shift so it won't be until tomorrow.

I have the electronic 2002 wiring diagram, and the automatic search frustrated the hell out of me - Ford had a typo for the IPR.

The Injector Pressure Sensor has three contacts in a round connector.

There are DC and AC solenoids, with AC solenoids making no difference how they are hooked up - but but it makes a big difference how a DC solenoid is wired. The only difference between AC and DC solenoids is a DC solenoid has a diode installed across the coils. AC coils like to hold their magnetic force for a while, and they send a reversed voltage spike (like a generator) as the magnetic field collapses. The diode on a DC solenoid "shorts" this reversed spike, and the magnetic field collapses quickly. Simply put - the AC solenoid is slow to let go, DC solenoids let go real fast.

I suspect the IPR is an AC solenoid, because of the nature of its job - I'm not so sure they want the IPR to "pulse" the ICP. I could be wrong on this, and I've never tested to see which solenoid coil is on the IPR - so it's safest to do it per the diagram.

Well I will check here in after my Seahawks play in a few... It was a 50/50 with the two wires in the plug I have right or wrong, could be my no start reason I'm hoping.
