That is the ford engineering number associated with that part. The beginning used to get you a date, then the base number,then the suffix is the last set . It's not a serial number. If it was a ford reman they usually put a sticker to denote remann status.

That is the part number of that casting. It only identifies that part, not the whole transmission. And that part number is probably a non-service part. Once the case is machined it will get a different number. So that number is only useful in the transmission assembly plant.

The prefix is a date used to be letter was decade then number for year of decade,type of vehicle I think

The middle set is the base number to denote what it is in the catalog

The last set is the revision type I think.

Mark will know more but that's how we interpred it at the dealer level anyway.

No, I don't, I never used part numbers. Number Dummy would know a lot more that I would.
