Hey, my '56 also came from Fresno. Looks like you have a good, solid cab here, Kevin. A question I should know the answer to, but are there a lot of 'Big Window' '56 pickups that had a big window added after the factory? There are three other '56 F100s in the tiny town I live in. One is a 'Big Window' and the owner knows it was a factory big window. It has additional bright trim around the door window frames. Is that chrome marker for a cab that has an original big window?

The stainless trim around the side windows is an accessory. None came from the factory with this. You can buy this trim from mid-fifty. All big windows came with the stainless trim around the back window. I believe you had to order the custom cab option to get it, which would include the stainless trim around the windshield and emblems on both doors. I might be wrong about that. Never seen a big-window standard cab.

I'm sorry to tell you but almost everything you just posted is incorrect. The trim on the doors only came on Big window trucks. Bigwindow trucks came with front and rear trim ONLY if it was a custom cab. Not all big windows were custom cabs. Most were but not all. I have factory photos showing trim on the doors on bigwindows

I didn't know that. I assume we are talking about the stainless trim around the side windows, right? I guess this is another way to tell if a cab, or at least the doors, were originally from a big window.
