Blackwood starting issue
Hi all,
I have a 02 Lincoln Blackwood (fabulous truck) with 120K miles and a 5.4 Ltr engine. It used to start up immediately. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that it takes an extra few seconds to start. It seems to take longer after the engine has been running as well. Any ideas on where to start on this?
Thanks,
Tony in NM

Check fuel pressure with a gage on the fuel rail.
If it does not build quickly at cranking to about 35 psi, cranking may be longer.
The cylinder head temperature sensor and intake air sensor are what tells the computer how much fuel to add for cold start, set ignition timing and opens the Intake air control..
You can have an issue in any of these areas.
Good luck.
