81 F150 keeps blowing PS hoses.

hey everyone.

Some of you may remember me from back when i used to frequent this part of the forum more with my 81 F150 300/c6 2wd truck Clyde. Well, Clyde has been serving my uncle's daily driving needs for the last few years, but he apparently has an issue that he cant seem to get solved, and i wanted a few more opinions.

The truck has had a tendency recently to blow the high pressure power steering line. it has done it three times now in the last 4 months. the truck is a 2wd, it doesnt see any crazy off roading or anything of that sort, and the steering box has been replaced when i first got the truck (4 years ago?) Always the high pressure line, never the low pressure line.

My thoughts are that an internal valve in the pump has failed, causing the line pressure to spike or stay too high. Anyone want to give a little insight on your thoughts?

There is a spring loaded pressure relief valve in the output fitting.
Maybe it's bound up or assembled incorrectly?

Are you sure about that? I know GM pumps have that spring loaded pressure relief valve that with any amount of grit will stick in the closed no pressure position and result in no power assist at idle. Never seen or heard of this kind of issue with a ford pump before. I didn't even know they had a spring pressure valve in the output fitting either I was told that was GM only and Ford used a internal valve in the pump itself.

I don't know why else there is a spring loaded shuttle thing in there with a washer.

I had it out when I swapped my pump.
