Injector o-rings? Truck lost power and stalled twice
Had an issue twice with the truck losing power and ultimately stalling and not restarting on me. Truck is a 96' F350 7.3 powerstroke with about 225k miles on the clock. The filter on the right pictured below is about 8 months old with maybe 5000 miles on it. Wondering what your guys thoughts are. I am just starting to troubleshoot figured I would change oil and filter to look for any signs of damage or trouble before I get too much deeper. I rebuilt the fuel bowl about a year ago and cleaned everything out. Have not cleaned the IPR, the HPOP reservoir had oil in it, oil level was quite a bit low on the dip stick. Have not checked the UVCH wiring or ohmed out injectors yet but and working towards those checks. Died the first time and thought it was frozen fuel as it was a tad cold and truck had been outside for days. Warmed it up in the heated garage and ran great for 2 days then on third day it died a mile from the house and had to be drug home again. Had to hold the pedal to the floor to even keep it on idle before it completely died.

Yeah it wasn't on the dipstick when I checked. there was oil in the engine but it was alot lower than it should have been. It has used a little bit of oil and I had a pretty good idea when it needed a top off but this went down alot more than it has in the past.
Already pulled the injectors out, don't see anything obvious. Only 2 bad glow plugs. Prolly just a fuel pump, or tank selector valve or tank pickup. Will continue to troubleshoot. I needed to do injector o-rings anyway this just gave me an excuse. All the wiring harnesses check out ok and injectors ohm out at 2.8Ω each.

If the upper o-rings on just one injector is bad, it "could" be blowing by enough to not build oil pressure when you're idling, thus the stalling. It won't restart because the oil has thinned so much that it can't reach the set point for starting. The thing that has me confused is why you have to floor it to keep it idling. That sounds more like a fuel delivery issue than injector o-rings. My understanding of the lift pump is that it either works or it doesn't. In other words, it shouldn't e giving you intermittent problems.
My fuel filter looks like that every time I change it. I have good o-rings and have never had any fuel related issues.

Well, replaced all the o-rings. Prolly not the issue but made for a good excuse to inspect things. Injectors didn't show any signs of major trouble, all looked fine from the naked eye.
While cranking to fill all the oil/fuel galleries could see the low pressure pump filling the fuel bowl. I could not check high pressure fuel pressure cause my gauge didn't fit but had pressure when depressing the schrader valve on the uel pressure regulator.
I am not sure, drove the truck a mile or two up and down the road, still don't trust it cause I don't think I solved the problem.
