Looking for '66 F100 Parts

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I own a 66 F100 Custom Cab (Color Code W - Medium/Marlin Blue). It is 3 on the tree and am looking to convert it to an automatic. Is there anyone out there that has an automatic steering column and steering wheel in the Medium Blue and or in all white (Wimbledon White) that they are willing to sell? Or do you know anyone that may have one?

Thank you for your time and help,

Lax

Your sig doesn't say where you are........

Try Tom @ Flashback F-100's, if you buys used parts from him, they will be as described when they arrive....

Not an authority; if unable to locate items may consider going with a later model auto trans column; which I believe would be shorter and require buying a later model manual steering box, which are longer?? If going this route may consider tilt, or the next step would be power steering???

There are also several aftermarket steering columns to pretty much fit most applications?

Dave,

Thanks for the help. I have a guy from kosiski auto who has a '65 all white steering column that he will sell me, but not sure how to determine if it will fit in the '66? Have any ideas? I don't want to purchase then it doesn't work - would be such a waste of money.

This is the 65 Steering Column

This is my 66 3 on the tree steering column

Would you know if the casing from my 66 could just replace the 65 casing? I am trying to keep everything as OG as possible without painting anything.

Thanks again for the help

Not sure if the gear selector indicator can be swapped to match the transmission in your vehicle; perhaps more knowledgeable member can advise? The 65/72 F100-F250 (4X2) automatic and manual steering columns should be interchangeable, suggest wait until another member chimes in to confirm. If decide to go this route, make sure the column is sold intact, to include the shifting linkage and everything associated with the swap, if seller begins to tack on additional charges for various components suggest compare both columns to determine which items are interchangeable.

I saved a copy of the steering column assembly for the 65-72 F100-F250 4X2 but for some reason unable to post, apparently my computer is experiencing a temporary cyber breakdown. Will post once I sort it out.

Dave,

Thank you. Advise really appreciated. Hopefully someone could definitely provide some further info as to whether or not I could put the 65 auto steer in my 66.

Thank you again and look forward to any extra input you may have.

Well, that's odd. The white steering wheel seems to be a 2-spoke? Or am I seeing it incorrectly? The blue one is obviously 3 spoke. And my 1966 F250 4x4 trucks are 4 spoke. I'm sure 1965 2WD trucks would have used a 3 spoke just like 1966 so unless I'm seeing an odd angle then the wheel seems like it must have been changed there.

MPC agrees with my thought - C4TZ-3600-A is the part number for the 17" 3-spoke blue steering wheel. Same 64/65/66 - I won't bother with listing all the uses for now.

Of course, that might not matter as far as the column is concerned.

I had to run out and look at my blue automatic column. I don't think the white column is original to that truck, looks like a later column. The bowl area is too big and the selection pointer is all different. Shift lever is straight and chrome instead of dog-legged and color matched to the column. Details, details...

Compare. I can take other pics if it would help.

TA455HO & Matt,

Thank you for helping me out. The link I am including is the '66 truck I purchased. It has all the pictures.

TA455HO are you selling the automatic steering column? If so and it works for my 66 I will take it off of your hands.

Please let me know.

Thank you again,

Lax

Unfortunately need some parts from it to put my column back together. Here's a picture from the MPC and you can see the automatic bowl with the neat little shark fin pointer near the upper left. The correct original bowls are made of unobtanium. They are prone to cracking and breakage.

The white column is a later model. It also looks like a tilt column as well. Those fetch a premium on ebay and swap meets.
