1983 FACTORY Bronco 6.9 IDI???

I know... swaps are easy enough but if I had $5K I would love to own this:

SUPER RARE! 1983 FORD Bronco 4x4 w/Factory Diesel *Runs GREAT!* - (CAS

Emissions legal and just plain cool for the rarity.

super rare because it was never made by ford. this guy would make a good used car salesman.
that is a plain old bronco that someone put a diesel engine into.

the sad thing is, someone will buy his line of BS and overpay for that thinking they have something rare.

i just sent him an email asking for the VIN, saying i want to get more info on it before dropping serious money on it.

Tom, I think I agree with you that I've been "hoaxed". I could only get the first two pictures to open on my phone at work, now that I see the rest it obvious the seller is full of BS. The instrument bezel is 85/86 'burl' type woodgrain and does not match. It has a tach cluster, and the tach option was not available in 83/84. Notice that the IP gear cover does not have a tach sensor port, so it can't possibly work either. At the very minimum it is much more tampered with than he admits, but more likely it is just a swap and a tall story.

I saw this rig on Portland area craigslist a couple years back for around $2800. Seller at that time said it was a swap done by a nephew or something like that. Also said something about being " done right ". I assumed that meant axles and suspension. Didn't have photos of the 5 lug wheels in that post.

if it was "done right" it would have a working tach, and be sitting on a shortened 3/4 ton frame.

at the least it should have a strengthened front frame and stronger axles.

Oh it's "all original". Just made from "original" parts from several vehicles.

And it's a "factory 6.9". Meaning it was originally built in a factory, not a in cornfield, behind a Tim Horton's, or under a freeway overpass.

Dude has a way with words. Even if he were up front about this thing's real history, as said, it's still a heavy-@$$ diesel engine in essentially a half-ton truck.

I'd like to see the VIN on that thing, that'll tell the real story on what engine it has.
Justin needs to get his back together, go look at it and show the guy what a properly swapped diesel Bronco actually is.

Uh huh... yeah, sure... well, maybe so, but they'd first do some really simple investigation of it... my feelings are, this thing is bogus and this guy's a con artist...

same thing i got this morning when i asked for the vin. and here is my reply:

well don't try scamming them like you are trying to do on craigslist, because that is a home made truck. first indication is no tach sensor on the engine, and a non working tach in the dash. second: 83 did not have a tach. third: 5 lug axles. if it was a factory diesel it would be on a 3/4 ton chassis with 8 lug wheels. and finally, diesel was never an option on the 1/2 ton chassis, and was never an option on the bronco because the frame is not strong enough to support the 1,200 lb weight of the diesel
