Anyone notice a Drop in Diesel Prices Lately

Summer prices always seem to climb. Too many people going on vacations create demand.
My 1st diesel in the fall of 1999 was $0.889 per gallon and usually 20-30 cents per gallon cheaper than gas. Then diesel got popular and look what it cost now. Always more than gas.
Of course a lot of that had to do with updating the Refineries in 2006 for the new 2007 emissions. I hear it was around $300 million per refinery to get the sulfur out. And the various Governments decided they could hang more taxes on diesel than they had previously.

Locally in Upstate NY, just North of Albany it has been $3.19 for about the last month. I went out on Wednesday and most stations seemed to be at $3.09 while gas has also dropped a dime to $2.55. When I bought my 2011 truck it was at a 'bargain price' of $3.86/gallon so no matter how bad it seems, it was worse.

Just think..years ago diesel and gasoline were considered waste from the refining process. The first refineries were busy running kerosene for lighting and heating. Now kerosene is known as Av-Jet A and usually mostly for commercial and private aircraft. Price for diesel in my area is $2.65 to $2.79 @ gallon.
