Is my 4x4 working??
I was making a turn in my truck the other day 4x4 2005 F-150 and I heard a loud pop. I looked and I have no idea how, but the 4x4 light was on and the 4x4 switcher was turned. It couldn't have been on long and I don't know how it happened. Anyways it was a pretty good pop, I assume the front end was binding up a bit. I freaked and tested 4WD a little bit. All I did was drove a bit on 2H and saw it was fine. Switched it to 4L and drove, the truck felt like it was really heavy, pulling something large very slow. Felt stressed. I don't know if the front drive shaft is supposed to spin normally all the time but I do know for a fact it was spinning at least some on 4L. From my research all of these are signs that the 4WD is working I just want further confirmation before I get a chance to take it on grass or something.
I am worried that the pop was a little too much for the truck and that I might have blown something.

You may want to post in the below forum for a better response rather than in the large truck forum.
Sounds like 4x4 was bound up because of driving on hard pavement. Probably ok, but you should verify by testing on dirt or loose surfaces. Make sure you make turns in both directions while testing.
